7 DRUG INTERACTIONS Nephrotoxic Agents including NSAIDs : Increased risk of nephrotoxicity; monitor for changes in renal function and mesalamine-related adverse reactions. 2 DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION Administration Instructions Evaluate renal function prior to initiation of mesalamine delayed-release tablets and periodically while on therapy. 17 PATIENT COUNSELING INFORMATION Renal Impairment Inform patients that mesalamine delayed-release tablets may decrease their renal function, especially if they have known renal impairment or are taking nephrotoxic drugs, and periodic monitoring of renal function will be performed while they are on therapy.
